Dru's Blessing
As you all know, Liz works at the Veteran's Administration taking care of our wonderful veterans. Also working at the VA is Chaplain Otey. He is an Indian who served in the military and late in life returned to service as a chaplain. He is fluent in nearly every religion and considers himself more of a "spiritual" advisor rather than a preacher or missionary. His job is to comfort our Veteran's in their struggles.
Most of you know that Dru is an Arabian horse and Liz wanted to find a special name for him. His registered name is OT Drumoniet RSI which is a combination of his Mother's and Father's name (OT amd RSI refer to the breeders farms). She consulted with Chaplain Otey about getting Dru an Indian name (I couldn't stand the thought of giving him an arab name). Not only did Holy Eagle (Otey's Indian name) go to his Medicine woman and get Dru a name, he offered to bless him! Gentle Wind's name for Dru is Aweesee Roussoum which means "He flies with the wind" and Liz' is Wisakon Askweew (Medical Woman). Below are pictures of Holy Eagle. He brought Liz a gift of tobacco (always when you visit someone's home) and the beard of a white buffalo which is considered holy since it is so rare. He blessed the horses and their stable to ward off evil spirits and promote peace and comfort.

I was not part of the blessing. This was just for the picture. Holy Eagle used this drum and the flute that Liz is holding.
